MG Group has announced that KT Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Industries & Commerce and Information Technology, Government of Telangana, has inaugurated its EV Park in Zaheerabad. 

MG Automotives Pvt. Ltd. is the flagship founding company of MG Group, headquartered in Mumbai. 

MG said in a statement that its foray into bus building and special applications started with its plant setup in Zaheerabad in 1996 by its founder and chairman Mohan V. Kamat. 

In 2014, it further invested and setup MG Composites LLP for FRP and advanced composites components for the automotive, non-automotive and defence sectors for both domestic and export markets. This was followed by MG Grey Engine LLP in 2016 for manufacturing bus electrical and electronic components, both adjoining the MG Automotives bus building facility in Zaheerabad. The three manufacturing units together generated direct employment for more than 1500 persons, most of them from Zaheerabad and its surrounding areas, the release said. 

MG Group has created its EV Park through the synergies of the core competencies of all its three business entities as a consolidated Group, which will function as an incubating hub for several startup enterprises in the EV 2 Wheelers and EV 3 Wheelers space in Telangana, the company said. 

MG said it would provide its expertise in design, engineering, development, components supply and assembly for the entities who have the vision but lack the manufacturing expertise or the infrastructure to achieve their goals. 

It has embarked on the incubating initiative by facilitating enterprises like Padmaja Greentech to enable them to market their EV 2 Wheelers and Zero 21 Renewable Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd., to market their EV 3 Wheelers. 

MG is currently interacting with few other EV start-ups in and around Hyderabad to help launch their businesses and be a catalyst in the development drive of the Telangana Government in the areas of sustainable development of fossil free transport solutions for Telangana, the release pointed out. 

The MG EV Park, through one of its group entities, MG Composites LLP, has made very good inroads into the defense sector, it said. It has been manufacturing containers for transportation of explosives, negotiating under water mines and naval ship antennas and radomes for the defence sector.  

It said the MG EV Park is focused on key sectors of the state and of national importance such as electric vehicles, ambulances, mobile medical units and defence. (MT)

Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler major Ather Energy has crossed the milestone of having over 400 Ather Grid fast charging points across Maharashtra.

With 64 Experience Centres and 42 Service Centres in Maharashtra, Ather Energy has cemented its position in over 37 cities in the state. Furthermore, to provide its customers access to fast charging, it’s Ather Grid network now extends to 35 cities across Maharashtra including Mumbai, Nashik, Pune and Nagpur. It has also strategically placed the fast chargers to connect significant routes such as Mumbai - Pune, Pune - Satara, Satara - Kolhapur, Sangali - Kolhapur and Pune - Panshet.

What’s interesting to note is that customers also have access to 220 fast charging points built on the LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System) standard, which has been developed by Ather and opened for industry-wide adoption.

LECCS allows different brands of light electric vehicles to use the same network. Ather Grid chargers are also visible on Google Maps, making it easy for any customer with a LECCS connector on their scooter to locate, navigate and charge, further enhancing the everyday ownership experience.

BYD, a global leader in new energy vehicles (NEVs), celebrated the production of its 13-millionth NEV on 21 July 2025 at the company's Xiaomo Production Base in Shenzhen-Shanwei. The milestone vehicle, a YANGWANG U7, underscores BYD’s industry dominance.

The company maintained strong growth in the first half of 2025, with domestic sales surpassing 2.113 million units (up 31.5 percent year-on-year) and overseas deliveries reaching 472,000 units (a 128.5 percent surge).
