SWITCH Mobility, Vertelo Sign MoU To Accelerate EV Adoption In India

SWITCH Mobility (SWITCH) Automotive Ltd, a global manufacturer of electric buses and light commercial vehicles from the Hinduja Group and a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Vertelo, a fleet electrification platform, to deploy 1,000 electric vehicles across India over the next three to five years.
By incorporating SWITCH Mobility's electric light commercial vehicles (eLCVs) and electric buses into Vertelo's leasing ecosystem, the partnership aims to solve pressing challenges including air pollution, urban congestion and climate change. Vertelo will lease and finance SWITCH's electric buses and eLCVs in accordance with the MoU, guaranteeing that they reach companies and local governments looking to implement environmentally friendly transport options.

Gig And S1 Z E-Scooters From Ola Electric

Ola Electric has launched the Gig and S1 Z range of scooters at an introductory price of INR 39,999 ex-showroom and INR 59,999 ex-showroom respectively. As part of the range, the Gig+ model is available at a price of INR 49,999 ex-showroom and the S1 Z+ is available at a price of INR 64,999 ex-showroom. The bookings for the Gig and S1 Z range of scooters are open at an amount of INR 499.
Designed and engineered to include removable batteries (, the new range is aimed at personal and commercial use at a rural, semi-urban and urban level. Aimed at a broad spectrum of customers with affordability the buzzword, the Gig and S1 Z range of e-scooters will be commercially available from April and May 2025 respectively. An interesting feature that the four e-scooters under the Gog and S1 Z range is the ability of their portable batteries to double up as an inverter using the Ola PowerPod. The Ola PowerPod in-turn could power home appliances!
With an impressive IDC-certified range of 112 km and a top speed of 25 kmph, the Ola Gig – with its removable 1.5 kWh battery, a hub motor and 12-inch tyres – of the four new e-scooter model offering, is solely aimed at B2B purchases and rentals.
The Gig+ is built for gig workers that travel longer distances with heavier payloads. With a top speed of 45 kmph, the e-scooter comes with a removable single/dual battery of 1.5 kWh each.
The IDC-certified range is of 81 km and the e-scooter – powered by a hub motor with a peak output 1.5 kW – will enable gig workers to maintain optimal city speeds and maximise their earnings by fulfilling their order runs quickly.
Aimed at urban commuters, the Z1 – as a stylish and performance-oriented e-scooter – featuring removable dual batteries of 1.5 kWh each with an IDC-certified range of 75 km (146 km X 2) – has a top speed speed is 70 kmph.
Sporting an LCD display, a physical key, the machine is powered by a 2.9 kW hub motor, can clock 0-20 kmph in 1.8 seconds and 0-40 kmph in 4.8 seconds.
As a dual-usage electric scooter designed for personal as well as light commercial use, the Z1+ sports removable dual batteries of 1.5 kWh each with an IDC-certified range of 75 km.
With a top speed of 70 kmph, the electric vehicle features 14-inch tyres, an LCD display and a physical key. Powering it is a 2.9 kW hub motor.

Wardwizard Partners Ampvolts To Setup EV Charging Infrastructure In India And Global Markets

Vadodara-headquartered Wardwizard Innovations & Mobility (Wardwizard), one of India’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ampvolts (formerly Quest Softech India), a leading EV charging stations and infrastructure provider. The partners will work together to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure in India and globally.
At present, Wardwizard sells electric two-wheelers under the Joy e-bike brand and electric three-wheelers under the Joy e-rik brand.
As per the understanding, Wardwizard will help in identifying strategic locations for setting up EV charging stations and serving as the front-end partner for key projects. It will also provide necessary resources, including financial support, to bolster the development of a comprehensive EV ecosystem.
On the other hand, Ampvolts will supply its electric vehicle charging equipment, including chargers and associated hardware, to Wardwizard. They will also provide customised CMS software solutions to facilitate payment gateways and online monitoring systems. It will also extend its Battery as a Service (BaaS) offerings to Wardwizard’s B2B clients, delivering innovative and comprehensive solutions to enhance business operations.

Jalaj Gupta To Lead TI Clean Mobility As The New MD

TI Clean Mobility, part of the Murugappa Group, has appointed Jalaj Gupta as the new Managing Director.
The auto industry veteran in his last position was the Business Head for Commercial Vehicles at Mahindra Group. He has around 29 years of experience in the automotive industry with expertise in business strategy, product development, sales, marketing, and vendor management.
Gupta an alumnus of Punjabi University and IMT Ghaziabad has also held leadership roles at Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland.
Prior to Gupta, TI Clean Mobility was led by Kalyan Kumar Paul, who served as the Managing Director with over 30-years of career with Tube Investments of India (TII) Group, which is part of the Murugappa Group. Paul had retired from the company in October 2024.
TI Clean Mobility, the electric vehicle business of the Murugappa Group, currently sells electric three-wheelers under the Montra brand and is also set to enter the electric small commercial vehicle (e-SCV) and electric tractor space.

Mahindra Releases BE 6e and XEV 9e Teaser Sketches Ahead Of November 26 Launch

Mumbai-based automotive major Mahindra has unveiled the teaser sketches of its upcoming electric origin SUVs – the BE 6e and XEV 9e ahead of the November 26 debut.
Based on the Heartcore design philosophy, the BE 6e and XV 9e are completely new pure electric vehicles designed by the company, which it believes will disrupt the passenger vehicle segment.
The company is betting big on the upcoming EVs as they encapsulate dynamic styling, premium materials, and progressive proportions.
