Ashok Leyland, one of the leading commercial vehicle manufacturer has showcased the Garud 15M bus chassis at Prawaas 4.0, organised by the Bus & Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI).

Claimed to be the first front engine multi-axle bus chassis in India, the Garud 15M is specifically designed for long distance intercity travel. The platform is claimed to offer the largest saloon space available in Indian buses. Offering 42 sleeper berths, the Garud 15M maximises per-trip revenue for bus operators and boasts the highest GVW in its category at 22,500kg. Whats more, it can also accommodate a spacious luggage compartment, enhancing its functionality for extended journeys.

The Garud 15M bus chassis features front wheel disc brakes, an electromagnetic retarder, and an optional full air suspension with anti-roll bar. The ergonomically designed 3-way adjustable driver seat and the air-assisted hydraulic clutch with a cable shift gear mechanism provides a smooth and fatigue-free driving experience. The Garud 15M will be commercially launched in Q4 FY2025.

Construction and off-road equipment major SANY has launched what it claims is India's first hybrid off-highway 100-tonne mining dump truck – the SKT130S – with localised manufacturing at its Pune factory.

The truck operates with a 925 kW engine, which generates 3200 Nm of torque, 100-tonne payload capacity and a 61 CuM heaped body capacity, designed for mining applications.

The SKT130S is expected to achieve fuel savings of 20-25 percent compared to conventional mining trucks. A regenerative braking system enables the high-voltage battery to charge during downhill operation.

The truck includes an intelligent control module for operation management and a 10-inch central control screen for navigation and safety. The cabin meets FOPS/ROPS certification standards, aligning with global safety regulations.
