Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has announced that 2022 was one of the most successful business years since starting its manufacturing operations in India. Despite supply chain headwinds and adverse cost environment, the company reported a revenue growth of 37 percent and a sales growth of 25 percent in calendar year 2022 over calendar year 2021. The year 2022 was especially the best year of growth as DICV sold a total of 29,470 domestic and export units of trucks and buses in the calendar year. 

DICV confirmed that in 2022 it crossed the production milestone of 200,000 vehicles (including domestic and exports) and 200,000 transmissions at its Oragadam manufacturing facility. The company recorded its best ever annual vehicle exports with 11,000 units, best-ever annual part sales (over 245 million parts) and best-ever annual domestic vehicle sales in 2022. 

Commenting on DICV’s 2022 annual performance, Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said, “CY2022 was one of our strongest performing years with 37 percent growth in revenue and 25 percent growth in sales. Daimler has made significant investments in expanding its product portfolio in India. The company launched 10 new models of BharatBenz trucks to offer customers a comprehensive portfolio of tonnage options to select from. “We are continuing to work diligently on transforming the way we will be doing business in India by investing on digitalisation, service-tisation, sustainability, diversity and inclusion as the cornerstones of our strategy going forward. We have expanded our R&D operations, have a sharper focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, upskilling and reskilling our workforce and many such initiatives to meet our vision in the mobility space for the near and medium term,” Arya informed. 

Ashok Leyland, a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has inaugurated its 22nd Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) dealership in Uttar Pradesh. The new 3S facility located in Chunar, Mirzapur will further strengthen the company’s presence in North India.

The company’s LCV portfolio includes Saathi, Dost, Bada Dost, Partner and MiTR targeted for a wide range of customers and applications.

Ashok Leyland, one of the country’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nagaland Rural Bank for a strategic vehicle financing partnership. Construction and off-road equipment major SANY has launched what it claims is India's first hybrid off-highway 100-tonne mining dump truck – the SKT130S – with localised manufacturing at its Pune factory.

The truck operates with a 925 kW engine, which generates 3200 Nm of torque, 100-tonne payload capacity and a 61 CuM heaped body capacity, designed for mining applications.

The SKT130S is expected to achieve fuel savings of 20-25 percent compared to conventional mining trucks. A regenerative braking system enables the high-voltage battery to charge during downhill operation.

The truck includes an intelligent control module for operation management and a 10-inch central control screen for navigation and safety. The cabin meets FOPS/ROPS certification standards, aligning with global safety regulations.
