New ‘Stream City’ Passenger Three-Wheelers From Omega Seiki

Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) has introduced new electric urban passenger vehicles called the OSM Stream City. These are available in two variants: OSM Stream City ATR (Any Time Ready) with a swappable battery and OSM Stream City 8.5 with a fixed battery. The swappable battery version is priced at INR 185,000 (ex-showroom) and the Stream City 8.5 is priced at INR 301,000 (ex-showroom). The electric passenger three-wheeler line-up marks Omega Seiki Mobility’s entry into the passenger three-wheeler segment for rural and urban areas.

The OSM Stream City ATR has its battery swapping technology coming from Sun Mobility. The Bengaluru-based company will provide a network of quick interchange stations for OSM customers to swap their batteries.  Customers can also utilise an app-enabled ecosystem to check the battery charge, find swapping stations and more.

The OSM Stream City 8.5 on the other hand is designed to meet the needs of urban commuters and has a range of 117 kms on a single charge. It takes four hours to charge the battery. Powered by an 8.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the vehicle offers spacious seating for passengers and features drum brakes and low rolling resistance tires. Creating a promising opportunity for e-rickshaw drivers in India to earn better, the OSM Stream City comes with home charging infrastructure. The swappable battery technology adds convenience.

Aiming to promote electric mobility across all categories in India, OSM has invested in a nationwide network of over 175 dealerships and is expanding it further. It is also manufacturing products locally and envisions a clean and environmentally sustainable transportation system. Making efforts achieve this through data-driven, smart engineering processes, OSM has partnered with various banks and non-banking financial companies to provide vehicle retail finance options for its customers.

Emphasising on continuous innovation as a priority at OSM, Narang averred that his company works to maintain its product range one step ahead of the competition, referring to the Stream City range. “While we started with cargo vehicles this launch is in line with our strategy of providing a complete 3W solution covering both cargo as well as passenger segments,” he remarked. “This year, our emphasised mobility is Passenger Vehicles and the OSM Stream City is a result of Omega Seiki Mobility’s strong commitment towards the same,” Narang observed.

Expected to support OSM’s production increase by five times in an effort to sell over 10,000 electric 3Ws in FY24, the Stream City should empower e-rickshaw drivers in India with unparalleled opportunities to cater to a larger customer base, consequently enabling them to optimise their earnings potential. A 15 to 20 percent increase in the earning potential will be offered by the electric passenger three-wheeler, ensuring more earnings and larger savings, mentioned sources close to the company.
