Tata Motors Ltd has rolled out the one millionth commercial vehicle from its Lucknow facility, commemorating more than three-and-a-half decades of its presence in Uttar Pradesh and its contribution to industrial excellence, economic growth, skill development and sustained livelihood creation. 
At a time when India’s commercial vehicle industry is undergoing rapid transformation towards cleaner, smarter and more efficient mobility solutions, this milestone underscores Tata Motors’ leadership in shaping the future of mobility. The milestone vehicle, a zero-emission electric bus, highlighted the shared commitment of Uttar Pradesh and Tata Motors to green mobility, aligned with the state’s net-zero 2070 vision and the company’s net-zero target of 2045. It was flagged off by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, and N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons Ltd, in the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak; Girish Wagh, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tata Motors Ltd, and eminent ministers as well as public representatives. Also present were senior bureaucrats, government officials and senior leaders from Tata Motors.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “The rollout of 10 lakh trucks and buses from Tata Motors’ Lucknow facility is a moment of pride for the entire state. It is a recognition of the state’s capabilities and immense potential, as well as of its talented people. Our vision is to transform Uttar Pradesh into a one trillion-dollar economy, with industry and entrepreneurs playing a pivotal role in this journey. The state offers a conducive ecosystem for scalable businesses, supported by a vast consumer market, a young, skilled workforce and seamless connectivity.” “Tata Motors’ success in Uttar Pradesh reflects the strength of this ecosystem and reinforces our commitment to fostering responsible industrial growth, creating jobs, building skills and advancing sustainable socioeconomic development,” he added. 
Established in 1992, Tata Motors’ Lucknow facility has evolved into one of its most significant commercial vehicles manufacturing hubs, producing trucks and buses that meet global standards across multiple powertrains, including zero emission electric and fuel cell electric vehicles. Spread over 600 acres, the plant combines manufacturing scale with a strong focus on people and sustainability—supporting over 8,000 livelihoods, building industry relevant skills through flagship training programmes, and operating as a water positive facility powered by 100 percent renewable energy, underscoring Tata Motors’ commitment to inclusive growth and sustainability ingrained responsible industrialisation. 
The facility also supports a robust supplier ecosystem, enabling MSMEs and ancillary industries across Uttar Pradesh and beyond. Speaking on the occasion, Chandrasekaran averred, “The production of Tata Motors’ 10th lakh (one millionth) commercial vehicle from its Lucknow facility reflects the strength of our longstanding partnership with Uttar Pradesh. Over more than three decades, this collaboration has demonstrated how industry, government and communities can come together to drive industrial excellence, create livelihoods and build capabilities at scale. We are deeply grateful to the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the entire state for their continued support and for fostering a progressive, growth-oriented approach. The landmark production milestone of 10 lakh (one million) vehicles underscores Tata Motors’ enduring commitment to Uttar Pradesh—anchored in manufacturing excellence, people-centric growth and responsible industrialisation. As the company advances its net zero journey, the Lucknow plant will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable mobility future for India. It is the only Tata Motors’ plant that produces trucks and buses. Commercial vehicles above four tonnes and up to 55 tonnes are made at the plant on Dewa Road to the north of Lucknow city. 
The integrated facility produced around 56,000 vehicles last year and is structured such that trucks and bus chassis are made in one half of the plant. Bus bodies are built in the other half and sent to the other half to be married with the chassis. The ratio of buses and trucks produced is 25:75. The integrated facility also has a vendor park that houses Tata Group suppliers under Tata AutoComp. There are other vendors that have facilities in the vicinity of the plant as well.

Pune-headquartered alternative commercial vehicle maker Blue Energy Motors has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) under the PARIVARTAN Scheme. The partnership aims to facilitate the replacement of commercial vehicles with electric trucks within the Delhi-National Capital Region.

The initiative supports the transition to freight mobility options by incentivising the replacement of transport units. Blue Energy Motors deploys electric and liquefied natural gas truck platforms across freight routes, accumulating operational distance and reducing emissions.

Anirudh Bhuwalka, Founder & Managing Director, Blue Energy Motors, said, "The PARIVARTAN Scheme is an important step towards accelerating the transition to cleaner freight mobility in India. SWITCH Mobility Ltd, a global leader in electric buses and light commercial vehicles and part of the Hinduja Group, has joined forces with intercity operator PURPLE BUS to roll out the region's first electric bus service linking Nagpur and Chandrapur, widening the operator's Vidarbha footprint. Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari oversaw the ceremonial dispatch of the inaugural six units, drawn from a 50-bus EiV12m intercity electric order placed by Purple Bus for deployments across Vidarbha.

Organisers chose Dussehra, a festival traditionally viewed as favourable for fresh ventures, as the launch date, a nod to the manufacturer's continuing push for safe, dependable and sustainable public transport in the region. Travellers between the two cities stand to gain better connectivity along with a safe, comfortable and eco-friendly way to travel.

The Nagpur–Chandrapur service is the third intercity project this year between SWITCH Mobility and Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions, building on electric coach launches along the Mumbai–Pune and Dombivli–Pune corridors in April 2026 and October 2026, respectively. The recurring tie-up points to rising operator confidence in electric buses for high-frequency intercity routes and to SWITCH Mobility's growing part in India's shift towards sustainable intercity travel.

The new route strengthens the partnership with Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions and furthers the company's wider aim of making zero-emission public transport accessible in Indian cities and towns. Linking key Vidarbha centres, the service is expected to ease daily commutes, boost local economic activity and speed the move towards cleaner intercity mobility. The EiV12m coach, engineered for long-distance journeys, pairs 45 pushback seats and a 350 km per-charge range with fast-charging capability, advanced safety systems, a quiet ride and SWITCH iON connected technology for real-time monitoring.

European commercial vehicle major Scania has inaugurated its research and development proving ground in Södertälje, representing an investment of SEK 975 million. The 85-hectare site includes 13 kilometres of paved road and 4 kilometres of gravel road to support testing across electrification, autonomous driving, safety systems and vehicle dynamics.

The facility incorporates three irrigated braking tracks constructed from asphalt, concrete and basalt tiles, enabling testing across varied friction surfaces and cornering conditions. The site also features specialised environments for evaluating driver assistance technology, including automatic emergency braking, lane support and blind-spot warning systems, alongside scenarios for autonomous vehicle development. The construction project integrated environmental measures, including ECO asphalt and renewable HVO100 fuel for logistics, avoiding approximately 30,900 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.

Eicher Trucks & Buses, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles, has inaugurated a 3S dealership facility in Noida for its Eicher Pro X small truck range. Operated by Punjab Mobility, the 7,000-square-foot facility is located on NH-34 at Dadri in Gautam Buddh Nagar, providing integrated sales, service and spare parts support.

The showroom will sell the 3-tonne and 3.5-tonne Gross Vehicle Weight range of small commercial vehicles across electric, diesel and compressed natural gas powertrain options.

The location provides access to industrial and logistics hubs across Noida, Greater Noida and the Dadri region, including the Multi-Modal Logistics Hub and the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Industrial Region, with transport connectivity via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway.
