As a young country, India’s talent pool is contributing to the auto industry globally in an increasing manner; through various tech centres of global automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. Behind the tightly closed doors of various tech centres, development labs and other such setups, a pool of skilled engineers could be found writing codes, designing complex automotive parts and sub systems, developing and fine-tunning ADAS/AD technologies as well as helping the design and development of alternative fuel vehicle platforms.   It is no secret that India’s talent pool is contributing to global projects. It is possible that a vehicle user at the other end of the world may not even be aware that the vehicle he is driving has parts sourced from India as a hardware or millions of codes that have been written fully or in part by an Indian engineer. The Indian talent pool – contributing to the automotive transformation that is taking place globally – is at the centre of the software biased transformation in automobiles. It is something that is not limited to passenger vehicles or commercial vehicle. Two-wheelers too are gaining big time from the talent of Indian engineers and their knowledge in the field of software. The current trend of premium-isation and electrification of two-wheelers in India is in part a result of the progress in electronics and software. In this issue, there are article that look at the current trends in the two-wheeler industry; trends in various streams of the auto industry at various stages such as design and development, manufacture, sales, service and end-of-life, and in areas like education which continues to play a major role in providing skilled manpower to the auto industry.   Last but not the least, this issue has a short article on the Vehicle Dynamics Conference 2024 that was held recently in Chennai. It was organised by the publisher of Motoring Trends magazine – PIN 365.
